TOP 5 ALBUMS OF THE WEEK
These are the top 5 albums I have listened this week
MIDNIGHTS-TAYLOR SWIFT
KING GIZZARD & THE LIZZARD WIZZARD- ICE, DEATH, PLANET, LUNGS, MUSHROOMS AND LAVA
JACKSON STOKES BAND- GEMINI (SINGLE)
THE SWORD- USED FUTURE
RIVERS OF NIHILL- WHERE THE OWLS KNOW MY NAME
MIDNIGHTS- TAYLOR SWIFT
One of my loves since I was a teenager has always been Taylor swift, I own every record and will continue to buy. Taylor has once again shown that she has no boundaries with her lyricism with this album having more explicit songs, it has always fascinated me on how talented Talyor is with her writing nit needing a room of 6 people to create a song which in modern pop music is rare. the midnights album Talyor's first concept album about 13 sleepless nights. my favorite track on this record is midnight run with a really cool rhyming scheme with the second verse will live rent free in my head for a while. "It came like a postcard, Picture perfect shiny family, Holiday peppermint candy, But for him, it's every day
So, I peered through a window, A deep portal, time travel, All the love we unravel, And the life I gave away, cause he was sunshine, I was midnight rain. everyone should go listen to this album and appreciate that there are still genuine song writers out there. 10/10
KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZZARD WIZZARD
ICE, DEATH, PLANETS, LUNGS, MUSHROOMS AND LAVA
probably the most unique band on the planet in today's world king gizzard on this album lead more to a progressive album with what feels like hints of yes, Montrose and captain beef heart. it is hard to describe what this band sounds like considering they have released four albums a year since 2016 and not one sounds alike. 9/10
RIVERS OF NIHL- WHERE THE OWLS KNOW MY NAME
On the topic of great albums rivers of Nihill album from 2018 was an all-around perfect example of what a progressive metal album should be. river of Nihill is one of my favorite bands it provides great music for mosh pits or working out. it also allows the more interested music listener to explore a genre of metal that has taken the world by storm since 2010.
GEMINI JACKSON STOKES BAND
The new single from Jackson Stokes is an all-round great track it stays true to the roots rock feel that Jackson is so good a capturing in his sound. with this album bring produced by Luther Dickson of the north Mississippi al stars and disturbed through create records. the single itself really allows the listener to feel like there are cruising down the highway on a nice blue bird day. I cannot wait to hear more from this album and where this artist goes in the future. 10/10
THE SWORD- USED FUTURE
On a somber note, yesterday in the metal world we got the news that the sword which was founded in 2006 has decide to go on indefinite hiatus. which sucks I loved this band and all the albums they produced I was lucky enough to see them live on the used future tour. this album will always hold a piece of my heart. AT the time of its release i was dealing with some personal demons and this album really helped get through dark period. hopefully we can get a reunion in ten years or so but i looks not likely. so, we are left with an amazing body of work that will stand the test of time. 10/10
